  1.) North Korea is a small threat in president Kim yang Il eyes. Although he realizes if he continues with the treat of nuclear bombing, it would cause universal chaos.

  2.) North Korea developed and threat to test a nuclear weapon. They started testing the weapon on October 9th 2006. Today other nations joined the U.S. in sanctions against North Korea. There is hope that talks with the six nations will again start. This may allow North Korea to state their cause and hopefully help the issue.

  1. North Korea seems like a big threat because North Korean officials went to the door of the Youngbyon guesthouse and read a letter informing them it was time for them to leave and they did. Also they are believed to have enough fissile material for one or two bombs and extract enough plutonium to produce four to either more withins months. And the last reason North Korea is a big threat is because they have a advanced nuclear proprage and can sell weapons to anyone who will buy them.
  2. North Korea is still dangerous today. They continue to test their missiles.

  I think that North Korea is very dangerous for many different reasons. One reason is that they are trying to extract plutonium which they are going to use to make nuclear bombs. The second reason is that their nuclear facilities could endanger China, Japan, and South Korea from the lethal radiation coming from it. Lastly, the pentagon believes that North Korea is developing an intercontinental ballistic missile which could be very dangerous. I feel that North Korea is very dangerous for all of these reasons.

  I feel that they also are still dangerous because North Korea fired a second missile into the sea between South Korea and Japan which means they are endangering others. The second reason that they are still dangerous is because North Korea said in public that they are going to build nuclear deterrent. Lastly, they North Korea also conducting nuclear test which means they want to build nuclear weapons which is dangerous. Over all in my opinion North Korea is very dangerous and will be a threat if they continue doing what they are doing now.

  North Korea went from being an inconvienience to a threat when it restarted it’s nuclear activity in 2003
  1 -North Korea is a bad, bad country. I think likening it to a bratty kid with a possibly loaded gun is valid.The onloy way to get around this difficult, and dangerous situation is clever politics and negotiations. Here are three reasons why North Korea is now dangerous.
  a-North Korea has “repeatedly caught Washington’s bluff”(Times) as of 2003 and this does the world no good, ’cause it discredits an already questionable world authority. One big break away from dialoque occured when the Clinton Admistrationsnegotiations were pushed aside by N.Korean officials. Also the 1992 resolution with South Korea was scraped.
  b-North Korea is also ignoring international law, that is the United Nations, by neglecting to follow the Nuclear Non- Proliferation Treaty.
  c- South Koreans are now possibly at a risk of a nuclear attack, also the scale of a possible military conflict is now escalated to the level of atomic weapons, which is dangerous to all life on the planet.

  Now Korea is more then a bratty child, they’re an unruly teenager, with a gun that surely is loaded.
  The testing of a nuclear device on 0ct. 4th of 2006 confirmed the seriousness of the situation. North Koreas repeated missiles launches are a flaunt of force in front of the international community and though capricious in nature, should be taken seriouslly.
  Lastly, the repeated disregard for the U.N. and the axis of evil guy are adding to international tension and causing unnecessary stress.

  1. When the article was written in January 13, 2003 North Korea seemed to be a very dangerous country. The first reason is that North Korea confirmed U.S. intelligence reports that it was illegally building a new uranium-enrichment factory, which is another way to develop the Bomb. Another reason that North Korea poses a threat is because they have advanced nuclear programs, long range delivery systems and also tendency to sell weapons to anyone that will buy them from them. The final reason that North Korea poses a threat is because they have a standing army of 1 million troops, which is the world’s fourth largest. It has a store of artillery shells and hundreds of Scud missiles that could be loaded with biological and chemical agents that would rain down to South Korea and affect the U.S. citizens stationed there.
  2. North Korea still is a treat today but we do not seem to be as worried about them today as we had before. North Korea wants to act like a big tough guy who has nuclear programs and is going to use them but yet they have not done anything to prove that they are dangerous. On June 9th North Korea announced that they will build a nuclear deterrent unless the U.S. gives up its hostile policy. North Korea wants the U.S. to follow their lead but we are too strong of a country to do so. On January 14, 2005 North Korea says its willing to restart stalled talks; this is another example of North Korea not doing anything. On July 4th North Korea test-fires at least six missiles. They wanted to show off what they have yet they have not used these missiles against us.

  1. N. Korea was an active threat as of 2003 because:
  I- They blatantly were working on a nuclear plant right in front of UN inspectors and then kicked the inspectors out of the country. That screams “we have something to hide.”
  II- They have the fourth most powerful army in the world. While the threat of them invading another country is not an issue, if they felt the need to defend themselves they would have no problem doing so. This makes the option of sending military over there a very big risk.
  III- Also, “The [American] Adminastration’s attempts to rachet up the pressure diplomatically have not produced much benefit” (Ratnesar 3). So we cannot pressure them politically or with our military. This means they can do what they want without fear of punishment.

  2. N. Korea has raiseed its threat level because:
  I- 27 September 2006 N. Korea offers to talk but the US is unwilling to do so. This is last update on talks in several years of unsuccessful talks between N. Korea, US, and the UN.
  II- On the 4th of July 2006 they fired missiles in the face of international warnings not to do so proving their defiance and their strength.
  III- On the 3rd of October 2006 they conducted a successful nuclear test, proving that they now have an active nuclear arsenal.

  1. In 2003 when the article was written N. Korea was not as big of a threat as they are today because they did not have the bomb, did not have as strict of government, and they have a crazy leader.

  2. As of today N.Korea is a huge threat because they have the bomb which means they kill many people, the government has taken complete control of everything in the country, and they will not let any outside thoughts or ideas into the country.

  1. North Korea was not threat at the time, but it was an upcomming threat. they opened a 5 megawatt nuc reactor after a decade of non use, they opened a cooling pond and removed UN cameras whitch means that they are prob being removed they can be used for the nuclear device for a bomb, and built a Uranium enrichment factory. but as we learned earlier the enritchment process does not happen over night and takes a lot of rods to enritch one.
  2. i feel that North Korea is not as big of a threat as many belive, becasue we make it seem that they do not want to talk but the US is refusing to talk to north korea, making an or else statment, if u dont totaly stop we wont talk, rather than talk to north korea and working something out and working together.

  1. North Korea was a boiling threat at the time of 2003 for some different reasons:
  -North Korea openly was developing and advancing in the nuclear field and unlike Iraq who refused for four years to let someone check on what they were doing; North Korea would kick people out for trying.
  -Another reason is that unlike some other nations North Korea’s nuclear program is more advanced and has a tendency to sell these weapons to anyone.
  -A third reason is that China, Japan, and South Korea are all in potential danger from the radiation.
  2. North Korea today is extremely dangers and here are three reasons why:
  -North Korea made a threat towards the US to make a nuclear strike against America if America attacks them. This shows that even if we use weapons like guns to possibly hinder the potential threat of North Korea, they will retaliate with a weapon that annihilates millions.
  -The UN sanctions in July of 2006 may anger North Korea enough to fight the sanctions in a negative way.
  -In 2006 North Korea had a successful nuclear test which means they now know they can impact the world with their technology, and use it to get what they want.

  1) As of the 13th in January of 2003, North Korea can be considereded dangerous because it is ignoring international laws put forth by the United Nations and because it has a powerful and very threating nuclear program. Also, N.K. is considered dangerous because when it comes down to it they are just plain mean. Thy are lead by evil people who want to do bad things.

  2) Today N.K. is still a threat because they have fired missiles after being told not too, they have gone through a nuclear test which was succesful and although they say they are willing to start up talks they still stall.

  1. At the time the Time article was written North Korea was very dangerous. Kim Jong Il is a tyrannical leader. At the time of the article they were hellbent on obtaining WMDS. Kim Jong Il would do very bad things with WMDS.

  2. As of today North Korea is even more of a threat because we know they have WMDs and we know they have tested them. They have also used them even though they have an agreement with the U.S.A. Their obviously testing them for something, possibly to use them against us or other countries they might have problems with. This is a very scary thought.

  1. North Korea is very dangerous as of 1/13/03. North Korea is extracting plutonium to make nuclear bombs. Which makes them very dangerous because they have nuclear weapons and can bomb anyone at any time. They also have very advanced technology that allow them make bomb easily. They have not been following the Nuclear Non- Proliferation treaty which makes them very dangerous since they will not follow a treaty made by the U.N
  2. They are still very dangerous because North Korea fired a missile in the sea between South Korea and Japan. And then weeks later they fired another missile into the same place. Also the U.N Security council is concerned about North Korea’s nuclear plan. This makes them very dangerous because the Security Council is concerned and they are the people who are trying to keep peace. So today North Korea is still very dangerous.

  1)North Korea was very dangerous because they were basically doing the same thing Iran is doing now. They taking all the steps necessary to be a nuclear powered country.

  2)Now I think that they are even more dangerous because now that they have nuclear power they can nuke anyone who goes against them.
