    Mr. Mac,
I was absent on the 13th and forgot to give this homework to you, so I am posting here while in my Itinerant class B block.

    1. First of three reasons is the crisis of the African government being put under an enormous nervous tension that can sometimes cause it to collapse. Second of the three would be the fact that the external powers apparently find it very dangerous to put any peacekeeping services through the guerrilla warfare on unfamiliar land. And third and most important of the three reasons for conflict resolution would be the internal and external supports severely lacking. The oil market ended up collapsing in the mid-1980’s which also ended the charge free oil of Algeria, Nigeria, Cameroon, Gabon, Congo-Brazzaville, and Angola. For the rest of the countries in Africa a declining rate of trade and an increasing debt rate dramatically reduced the hopeful thoughts of meeting the famous oppertunities.

    2. The characteristics of regional conflicts in The Horn of Africa start with the unsteadiness of war in southern Sudan over the past thirty-five years. Moving throughout the Horn it is noticed that many regimes have collapsed due to pressure of ethnic rebellions, also “…under clan factionalism nurtured by the repressive ethnic regime of Mohammed Siad Barre,” (Zartman 90).

    3. a. What is the African government doing to improve all of the problems going on in Africa today?
    b. Are there still as many or more conflicts developing in Africa over the past five years?
